Wool rugs
We are Agustina and Silvina, lovers of the countryside and nature. We are part of a wool-producing family, and it was while exploring the northern region of Argentina that we met these talented artisans. Women who weave stories with their hands.
And so TARWA was born, a family project where we focus on designing rugs that are then handwoven. We take pride in being actively involved in the process, and each step reflects our commitment to keeping traditions alive.
At TARWA, our rugs are woven on traditional looms using ancestral methods passed down from generation to generation. Our goal is to highlight these techniques and achieve an organic and inviting style that adds elegance and presence to spaces.
Not only do we focus on creating quality products, but we also ensure that our production process is sustainable and environmentally friendly. We take care of our animals, the environment, ensure fair trade for the weavers, and cater to our customers by using natural dyes.
TARWA is a piece that results from the dedication and love we put into each stage of the process.
Production cycle
We base the production of wool in the mountains of Córdoba, Argentina, where sheep are raised and sheared in a carefully managed environment. After shearing, the wool is selected and washed to ensure the best quality.
Skilled weavers take on the task of hand-spinning the wool using a traditional handmade tool known as a "huso." The result is a durable thread, a product of artisanal skill.
The handspun yarn is manually dyed using natural elements found in the mountains, such as plants, herbs and roots among others. We value the importance of natural elements in each stage of production.
Once the dyed yarns are dry, they are ready to be woven. Each crafted rug is the result of several weeks of dedicated work carried out on native ("criollo") looms. The skilled artisians pour their expertise into hand weaving each piece, ensuring that each one is truly unique.
All of our products undergo a rigorous quality control to guarantee it meets our standards of excellence. We inspect and test each item to deliver exceptional and premium products to our valued customers.
We prepare our TARWA products, which are now ready to embark on a journey to their new homes and create beautiful moments. Each item carries with it the essence of craftsmanship, the essence of the artisans, and the love we dedicate to every stage of the process.
